Disney Plus viewers have known for some time that The Book of Boba Fett is coming to the streaming service at the end of this year. What audiences didn't know until this morning, is just what The Mandalorian spinoff series was going to entail, but a new trailer has shed quite a bit of light on what to expect.

One of the most beloved Star Wars characters of all time, Boba Fett, got a bit of a personality makeover in the most recent season of The Mandalorian. Previously just known as a man ready to take on any job for a couple of credits, Temuera Morrison's version of Boba Fett seemed to be much more principled, even if he was still willing to blast a cruiser out of the sky if that's what the job required. Of course, in the teaser for The Book of Boba Fett, the famed bounty hunter had no problem walking into Jabba the Hutt's palace, shooting anyone who got in his way and seizing the throne.

So, after months of wondering just what Disney Plus had in store for audiences with the spinoff series, it appears that the brand new trailer sheds quite a bit of light on what kind of ruler Boba Fett will be, and it turns out he's shooting for benevolent. The Book of Boba Fett trailer shows how the Star Wars character wants to take over Jabba's kingdom. While the great beast ruled with an iron fist and the threat of sending any dissenters into the belly of the rancor, Boba and Fennec Shand work hard to convince the underworld that things have changed.

Boba also puts to rest any talk that he's still a bounty hunter. One exchange with a potential client explicitly makes it clear that he's no longer taking any old job for credits. He's the man on the throne and he's got bigger fish to fry than hunting down contracts.

One aspect that appeared to be left out of this first official The Book of Boba Fett trailer is a tease of any well-known Star Wars characters making an appearance. Cameos were a fairly common occurrence in The Mandalorian and it stands to reason that won't be changing with its spinoff series. For now, though, audiences are still in the dark as to just who could come calling as the series starts to take shape later this winter.

The Book of Boba Fett debuts on Disney Plus on December 29, 2021.
