With every new piece of media that teases its impending premiere, The Book of Boba Fett seems to want audiences to know how different it will be from previous Star Wars entries. Everything about it feels familiar, yet new, which pretty much seems like exactly that sweet spot fans have been looking for. If Lucasfilm can manage to stick the landing, this series may be a turning point for the franchise.

At just over a month before the long-awaited show debuts, Disney and Star Wars just released another new teaser trailer to whet the appetites of fans during the upcoming long December. But thanks to a few interesting little clips, there's a chance it may make viewers a little too hungry, especially if they're among the old school Star Wars faithful who've been waiting for Boba Fett to get his due since 1980.

The 30-second trailer begins with a distant shot of 2 unidentified figures walking towards the familiar opening front gate of Jabba's palace on Tatooine. The one on the left looks a bit like Ming-Na Wen's Fennec Shand, who joined Temuera Morrison's Boba Fett as business partners during the events of The Mandalorian. Given their connections, it's possible that the chained-up individual on the right is actually Boba himself, perhaps masquerading as a captive as a quick way into the fortress. Of course, it could also be a target whom Fennec was tasked with bringing in. But the framing suggests this is a pretty important person.

The trailer then flashes between shots of speeder bikes and 2 armored people parkouring over the streets of Tatooine (a pause at the right time reveals that one of these nimble runners may be Fett himself). The rest of the teaser largely consists of shots already seen in previous promotional materials. But it's worth noting that Fett appears to be going helmet-less more and more. Maybe it comes with his newfound career change from bounty hunter to aspiring crime boss.

The Book of Boba Fett really is a great opportunity to try some new things with the Star Wars universe. Unlike Rian Johnson's still phenomenal The Last Jedi, this series appears to have a much smaller scale, seemingly taking place primarily (or perhaps entirely) on Tatooine. So any radical ideas wouldn't necessarily have very far-reaching consequences. It's the perfect chance to see how well a true gangster movie-inspired story would fare in this same universe that featured the line "somehow, Palpatine has returned."

Luckily, now with less than a month to go before eager fans finally get to enjoy The Book of Boba Fett, all this speculation won't be the only saving grace for long. Hey, maybe a rewatch of Star Wars Rebels or the first 2 seasons of The Mandalorian is in order in the meantime. Nothing wrong with a little refresher, especially when it involves Grogu.

The Book of Boba Fett premieres December 29th, 2021 on Disney+.
