Batman is ready to make yet another return to the big screen, and he's looking better than ever, depending on who's being asked. It's hard to believe how long fans had to wait to actually see the iconic Batsuit after The Batman was originally announced. But now, eager audiences have been positively flush with images of the gritty new outfit, and here are a few more to add to the pile.
Don't worry, though. This little batch of The Batman photos contains more than just a couple new angles on the intimidating armor that's already gotten its time in the very dark limelight. The collection includes a new shot of Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne/Batman sans Batsuit as well, not to mention a slick look at an unmasked Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. People can say what they want about Matt Reeves' upcoming retelling of the Batman story, but it's really got a remarkable sense of style.
Empire just unveiled the new photos alongside the magazine covers for their new issue focused on The Batman. One cover showcases Pattinson in the already familiar Batsuit, saturated with some deep red lighting. The other offers a new look at Kravitz's Catwoman, bathed in a cooler, contrasting blue and red color scheme. The Pattinson cover features the quote, "even Alfred thinks he's gone insane." Meanwhile, Kravitz isn't immune to the drama, as her cover includes a similarly ominous declaration, "we're watching her become a femme fatale."
Aside from the covers, Empire also released a duo of images featuring Pattinson's character. While one of them is a dark shot of him in his unmistakable Batman outfit, the other shows the man without the suit. Pattinson can be seen in some harsh but still dim lighting sporting a messy hairdo and a casual (yet dark, of course) outfit. Maybe this picture is meant to show that Bruce Wayne is just like everybody else: a brooding, awkward mess.
The Batman will also star Andy Serkis as the aforementioned Alfred, along with rather inspired casting choices like Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and John Turturro as mob boss Carmine Falcone. It's clear that director Reeves has some big ideas in mind to set his film apart from previous iterations of Batman as a character and a story. So fans are understandably excited (and maybe a bit wary) to find out where this new version will go.
With the release of The Batman inching ever closer, there's sure to be plenty of speculation between now and release. So get those wild theories out and let them breathe a bit, because the time to share them is ever-shrinking.
The Batman will release in theaters on March 4th, 2022, before streaming on HBO Max 45 days later.
