The Batman director Matt Reeves took to social media to share the first pic from the exciting new trailer that's set to debut at the DC FanDome event. DC FanDome, an event that will highlight many of the new thrilling DC releases to come like Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Flash, and of course, The Batman, has many fans anxiously awaiting. With the brief teaser announcement of The Batman's 2nd trailer set to release on October 16th, Reeves has elevated the hype to another level.

The director shared on Twitter a quick look at a shot of his upcoming adaptation of the iconic DC hero, which features Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight overlooking the Gotham City skyline at dusk. Fans can view Reeves' original tweet below.

Last year's DC FanDome featured the debut of the very first trailer for The Batman, which was then still early in production. Fans can expect the film's 2nd trailer, which is supposedly listed around the 2 and half minute mark, to feature many more shots of Pattinson's Batman in action along with the other villainous characters like Paul Dano's Riddler and Colin Farrell's Penguin.

From this new photo and the brief glimpses he has shared in previous months, it appears that Reeves' film is more faithful to the original comics, with an even grittier, more gothic Gotham City that is closer down the path of Tim Burton's Batman films rather than Christopher Nolan's more grounded, realistic trilogy. Reeves confirmed that the film will focus heavily on a noir-driven, detective version as The Batman will take place in Bruce Wayne's/Batman's second year of fighting as he is forced to deal with corruption and tracking down a new enemy known as the Riddler.

If fans are liking what they are seeing (which it most certainly seems like they do), they will get plenty of more content from the Reeves/Pattinson Batman universe. There are already two planned sequels and two spin-off television series in early development for HBO Max, with one series centering on the Penguin and the other focusing on the Gotham City Police Department, as the series was revealed to be set during Batman's first year of crime-fighting, from the perspective of a corrupt GCPD officer.

The Batman also stars Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Peter Sarsgaard as district attorney Gil Colson, and Barry Keoghan as young officer Stanley Merkel. It is set to release in theatres on March 4th, 2022
