The Ascent is a cyberpunk-themed twin-stick shooter from Neon Giant, an indie developer with big-name talent. The small company is comprised of eleven individuals who have collectively worked on popular AAA titles, including Doom, Far Cry, Gears of War, and Wolfenstein.

The action RPG has a main mission chain to keep players busy, but it also features plenty of side missions. One of the early quests players can pick up in The Ascent is The Stash, but it takes a little digging to locate.

How to Find The Stash Side Mission in The Ascent

Before players can set off on their quest to find the hidden stash in The Ascent, they have to find a datapad. To locate the datapad:

  • Go to the Grinder area in the No Man's Land sector
  • Head northeast of the Grinder area and interact with a corpse
  • Read the datapad and start tracking the mission

Players should follow the quest to the Gratitude sector. If this is the first time going to this area, head to the nearest train station and travel to No Man’s Land, and start walking south.

There will be a lot of enemies to deal with on the way, and it's up to players whether they want to kill them all or run through them. Using Overcharge could help deal with the hordes of lower-level enemies. Once Gratitude is reached, follow the mission marker to the Linus Pizza Palace.

The hidden stash is located in the back room of the Pizza Palace, near the counter. Players will need to have the Ice Kicker Cyberdeck upgrade to open the ICE-1 door. Pick up the Old Gun from inside the room and then head to the bar in Cluster 13.

The Stash mission will be completed after players talk to the bartender, Iris. 2500 XP and a Scorcher shotgun are rewarded for finishing the quest. Even if players don't like the Scorcher to begin with, they can upgrade any of The Ascent's weapons and see if it suits them better.

If players accidentally sell the Scorcher or any other weapon in The Ascent, its upgrades will still be applied when the gun is acquired again. This means if players upgrade to Mk.4, and then sell, it will still be upgraded to Mk.4, saving precious upgrade materials.

There are plenty of other missions in The Ascent available to gain XP, unique rewards, and extend players' time in this immersive cyberpunk world, as well as a decent-sized campaign that can be completed solo, or co-op.

The Ascent is available now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
