A major update for Tetris Effect: Connected is on the way including new game modes and features. Rather than simply launch Tetris Effect: Connected on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 as is, developers Monstars Inc., Resonair, and Stage Games have decided to celebrate the occasion with a substantial new patch. The new content isn't exclusive to PS5 and PS VR2, either, but will also be released as a free update for Tetris Effect: Connected on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, too.

Tetris Effect was first released in 2018 and was immediately embraced as a beautiful way to experience the classic puzzle game. The original version of the game featured a number of exciting game modes, as well as fun visuals to enhance the experience. The Tetris Effect: Connected expansion launched in late 2020 and added new co-op and competitive modes both for local and online play to the game.

Now Tetris Effect: Connected could be evolving to its final form. On February 22, Tetris Effect: Connected will be launched on PlayStation 5 with support for PlayStation VR2, much like the original Tetris Effect was supported on PlayStation VR. Alongside the PS5 launch, Tetris Effect: Connected will receive a substantial update adding game modes and features made as a result of player feedback over the years.

For example, the new Tetris Effect: Connected update adds a single-player Classic Score Attack, a mode previously only available with multiple players. This feature was added with competitive play in mind, which is why it supports both NTSC and PAL versions to match both North American and European tournament Tetris play. Endless options are also being added to Master Mode and Purify Mode, allowing exceptional Tetris players to surpass Tetris Effect: Connected's current leaderboard limitations and challenge previously unreachable levels of difficulty.

Expanded in the new update is the Zone mechanic. Due to its popularity in both Journey Mode and Zone Battle, it's being added to Marathon Mode, too. There's also a very fun feature for PlayStation VR2, allowing players to activate the Zone mechanic simply by closing and opening their eyes, utilizing the PS VR2's eye-tracking functionality.

The definitive Tetris experience is becoming that much more definitive. The developers of Tetris Effect: Connected have been listening to feedback since the expansion's release in 2020, waiting for an opportunity to deliver. Tetris Effect: Connected's launch on PS5 is just such an opportunity and players on all platforms will reap the benefits.

Tetris Effect: Connected is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and will launch on PS5 on February 22.
