A talented and dedicated fan of the Tetris series has created a door made out of the iconic shapes known as Tetrominoes. The popular puzzle strategy game has not waned in popularity decades after it debuted. Tetris has gone through many versions and reinventions, the latest being Nintendo's Tetris 99. The iconic puzzle pieces have inspired fans to share their love for the series in different ways outside the game itself. From costumes for Halloween to fan art and even a wide array of Tetris-themed products for sale, the simple puzzle game continues to live on.

Last month, the latest Tetris World Championships took place, where one competitor scored the highest-ever game in Classic Tetris. That wasn't the only time a high score was seen this year. In January, an AI played Tetris so well that it broke the game. While this recent example of Tetris fan art may not be making history, it's undoubtedly gaining appreciation from other fans online.

Tetris fan and Reddit user Mttowns made a door for his barn utilizing scrap wood featuring the iconic Tetrominones appearing like a giant board from the game. The latest fan-made creation captured the attention of many online who were curious about the design process and how Mttowns could get the shapes so perfect. One user complimented the fan on not using "illegal shapes" to create their door. Regarding what went into designing and building the individual pieces for the door, Mttowns admitted that they based their design on some loose measurements and then would lay them out. This year, creative fan creations out of wood seem to be all the rage. While it may not be a door, a Pokemon fan did carve an impressive Charizard wood statue.

Because the talented fan had to use different varieties of scrap wood there were noticeable holes in them from other projects. Mttwowns replied to a few comments stating they would probably plug those holes up with some pieces of dowel. Despite some constructive criticism, the response was mostly positive, and one gamer said they might make a coffee table utilizing the same method. This is not the first time fan art using wood as a medium has become popular online this year. Another artist who is a Zelda fan carved the logo for Breath of the WIld's sequel Tears of The Kingdom.

Tetris may seem old school to some gamers, but it's refreshing to see it being brought back into the spotlight through tournaments and unique pieces of fan art. The trend of wood art will no doubt continue with creations like Mttown's and a recent piece of Fallout wooden wall art another talented gamer made. Tetris may be simple, but this beloved puzzle game has a bright future and will likely live on for generations.
