PCs and console are not the only ways to play video games, it seems. Games like DOOM have become notorious for being ported in unusual ways, including a fridge, the world of Minecraft, and it's even possible to play the classic FPS in a playable GIF. It's also possible to play games in Tesla cars, which is likely something that feels almost out of science fiction for many. Now, a source indicates that games being showcased in Elon Musk's range will have the performance of new-gen consoles.

In a post uploaded to Twitter today, it's been suggested that the Model S Plaid will be able to run games at an equivalent rate of that of the PS5, including running at 60 fps. Earlier this year, Musk claimed that the Model S could play Cyberpunk 2077, so this suggests that anyone who wishes to play new-gen style games while on the road can do so with the same fidelity as Sony's latest console.

The tweet was based on the Tesla delivery event which took place on June 3rd, in which the Model S Plaid was unveiled. A couple of images were uploaded, one of which makes the claim that games will have "PS5 level performance" and another showing a photo of Cyberpunk 2077, which honored Tesla in 2019 by adding the Cybertruck to the game's world, being played on the screen. All-in-all, it appears as though new-gen expectations is what Musk is looking for in his in-car games.

The ability for Tesla owners to be able to play games in-car is something that the company is putting a lot of effort into. In September last year, developers were hired to work on Tesla's gaming capabilities, suggesting that this is an area that could have potential, at least from Musk's perspective. However, at the moment, it could be argued that it's still a bit of a fad. Having said, the opportunity to play games while a passenger in a car is perhaps something many have dreamed of for a long time.

For now, this looks like something Musk and co are attempting to deliver on. As one of the world's richest men, he is often a pioneer in new technologies, from his Space-X program, to his Starlink service which provides internet to businesses and citizens via satellites, and even his beginnings as one of the co-founders of PayPal, Musk is known for his ideas, as well as his love of gaming.
