While the Gears of War movie may be far from release, even high-profile celebrities have been discussing the film, including former WWE star Dave Bautista who tried his best to get in the film, though that may not ultimately be the case. Now, former NFL player Terry Crews has shared his thoughts on the possibility of being in a Gears of War movie.

Twitter user Stephen Ford tweeted his opinion on the perfect castings for a Gears of War film. These castings include Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista, who previously said he was destined to play Marcus Fenix in a Gears of War movie, and Terry Crews.

This prompted a positive response from Terry Crews, who starred in February's Crackdown 3.  Crews suggested that he greatly supported the idea on Twitter.

"I like this. I like this very much," Crews stated on Twitter. Commenters added to the exchange, with many expressing excitement at the thought of Crews reprising the role of Augustus "Cole Train" Cole, alongside the likes of Bautista and other potential actors.

Many Gears of War fans will likely find themselves in support of this idea. Terry Crews, who was almost too big for Crackdown 3, would likely be a well-received casting choice for Augustus "Cole Train" Cole, a Gear soldier who previously played the football-like sport of Thrashball. Given Crews' past roles in various action movies and memorable TV advertisements, there is evidence that Crews has the energy and passion to match Cole's. Furthermore, Crews has the perfect physique for the role, which is essential since a common point of commentary regarding Gears of War is the muscularity of the characters.

This is all predicated on the theory that the plot of the Gears of War film will be based on that of the games. Gears of War head Rod Fergusson indicated recently that the lore of the games would be separate from the films, so any events that occur in either or solely consequential to their respective universes. As such, the characters whom fans are matching actors to may not end up being the film. For many Gears fans, it would be a shame to not have the beloved "Cole Train" in the film, but if it is in service to a better story in the film, then perhaps not including him would be the best action in that scenario. However, "Cole Train" has often been central to the appeal of Gears of War's campaigns, so his inclusion is nearly certain.

The Gears of War movie is currently in development.
