As a sandbox game, Terraria has plenty of ways for players to customize it. One of the more fun elements of the game is creating a home to live in and making it as cool-looking as possible. There are plenty of furniture items in the game, but one type that stands out is the paintings.

Players who are able to acquire these paintings can hang them on any service to add a neat wall decoration to a room. These paintings are not craftable, so there are specific ways in which they can be obtained that players will need to look out for.

How Paintings Work

Paintings serve no other major purpose outside of pure decoration for the player's background walls. The images in each of the paintings in the game are meant to reflect something related to Terraria itself, with some even being direct parodies of famous paintings from real life. Each painting also has its own tooltip that contains the name of the painting's "artist" but are either just fake names or names of the actual sprite designers for Terraria.  Paintings come in various different sizes including 3x3, 3x2, 2x3, 3x4, and 6x4.
