There are many games in development that are aiming to capture the same magic as Pokemon and iterate on its creature-collecting RPG formula, including Vewo Interactive's Nexomon: Extinction and Crema Games' evolving MMO Temtem. After weeks of teasing on social media, Crema released the official trailer for Temtem's Kisiwa Island update, available tomorrow.

The update will add its titular Kisiwa Island to the game, where Temtem tamers can find 23 new monsters while stopping an invasion by the evil Clan Belsoto and its leader General X, according to IGN — which exclusively hosted the update trailer. Also being added are new attack animations and biomes, special climbing gear to traverse different environments, and an increase in the game's level cap that will allow its three starter Temtem to evolve into their final forms.

Another major facet of the update is the addition of a new Chat functionality that allows players to talk out loud or speak privately to other users, as well as the ability to block and report players for inappropriate behavior. Clubs, Temtem's take on the Clan system seen in other multiplayer games like Destiny 2, will be added as social hubs that allow up to 50 players the opportunity to chat and create custom banners. More gameplay features for Clubs will be added in future updates.

The developers of Temtem have been very upfront with their plans for the game, releasing a mid-term roadmap for Temtem in February that outlines more new islands, a "Nuzlocke" mode styled after the popular Pokemon fan creation, and more. With each major update the game's price will increase, according to Crema, and the Kisiwa Island update will bring it from $35 to $37.50.

One big focus for the future of the game is the release of Temtem ports for PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, planned for sometime in spring 2021. Crema Games is also interested in adding cross-play and cross-save features alongside these releases, but needs to make sure they are viable for the game first.

Despite it having run into technical troubles when it was first released in early access this January, Temtem appears to have gotten itself on-track. Crema Games' MMO looks to have a bright future, and luckily fans can look forward to trying Kisiwa Island soon.

Temtem is available now on PC in early access. Ports for PS4, Switch, and Xbox One are in development.
