TellTale Guardians of the Galaxy Game Has Fun Easter Egg

The first episode of Guardians of the Galaxy: The TellTale Series is available now, and gamers have already discovered a unique Easter Egg hidden within the game. The Easter Egg pays homage to an interesting character in the Marvel universe that fans will remember from the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

We’ll quickly note that the Easter Egg is a spoiler of sorts, since it takes place a bit into the game. If you've yet to venture into the latest TellTale episode, be warned that a small SPOILER follows from here.

Players take on the role of Peter “Star-Lord” Quill, the well-known character played by Chris Pratt in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. In Episode 1 of the TellTale series, Quill can review his ship’s computer for any messages, and players have discovered that one of those messages is from someone named Howard.

For those new to the Marvel universe, Howard refers to Howard the Duck, the oversized comic book duck. Those who have seen the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie will have spotted Howard during the after-credits scene.

Howard the Duck nabbed himself his own full-length movie back in 1986, but after the film tanked with both critics and viewers, the crude character was shelved for the better part of three decades. However, Howard the Duck was recently revived in a new series of comics, which began in 2015. It seems TellTale Games is also looking to help revive the forgotten duck.

In his message to Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy: The TellTale Series, Howard warns the Guardians’ leader to pass an important message along to Rocket, the fast-talking, ever fighting raccoon on the team. Turns out, Rocket Raccoon owes Howard a healthy chunk of change after losing big to the duck during a poker night.

There are undoubtedly many more Easter Eggs hidden within the first episode of Guardians of the Galaxy: The TellTale Series. If Nintendo Switch owners have their way, they’ll soon be able to play the game on the newest Nintendo console and join the search for fun Easter Eggs.

In the meantime, Guardians of the Galaxy: The TellTale Series Episode 1 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
