Telltale Games Offers PC Game Bundle To Benefit Charities

Gamers, I’ve got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that some developers believe in the good of this world and want to make a difference. TellTale Games is offering a special bundle of PC games for a limited time and giving a significant amount of the proceeds to select charities. Nice, huh? The bad news is that you have to act fast because this deal ends today.

TellTale Games has teamed up with some of the top PC games publishers to bring you The Great Adventure Bundle 2010. For a limited time six games are being offered together for one price, with 25% of the proceeds going to five great causes. The bundle includes four main games:

Two bonus games can be unlocked when certain sales goals are met:

The whole bundle is going for $19.95. Per the website, this is a $120.00 value. The sale ends today, September 10, 2010. The supported charities are:

  • Child’s Play
  • The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
  • World Wildlife Fund
  • Electronic Frontier Foundation
  • Nyota e.V.

You can choose your charity out of the list when making your purchase, and the donations are tax-deductible. If you do not make a choice, your donation is spread among all the charities.

In these dark economic times with so many layoffs, game developers and publishers need to make money. This makes sense, and I do not fault them for that. However, if any of the big console game publishers did something like this with one of their flagship titles, this could make a huge impact. Think about if EA or Activision did this with Rock Band 3 or Call of Duty: Black Ops, they could garner a great amount of attention as well as money for charity. Hopefully larger publishers and distributors will take note of what TellTale Games is doing.

Again, act FAST because this deal ends today. Incidentally, Puzzle Agent has already been unlocked at the time of this writing. Sam & Max unlocks if 5,000 bundle sales are met. At this time, 1,877 bundles have been sold so far, and they have raised $9,366.23 for charity. Hopefully TellTale Games will extend this offer, so that Sam & Max can get unlocked and because it’s simply an awesome thing to be doing.

PC gamers, is this something you can get behind? Console gamers, would you be interested if something like this came to the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3?
