Early today, Japanese fighting game developers and publishers hosted an event dubbed the Fighting Game Round Table discussion. Here, the group streamed new information concerning their own IPs, probably because E3 ended up getting canceled this year. As one can expect from a prestigious fighting game showcase, Tekken 7 made an appearance and revealed a new trailer.

The new Tekken 7 trailer reveals that the game will be getting a fourth season of DLC, one that will reinvigorate the game's battle system while introducing several other improvements. Bandai Namco implies that it's doing this because they want to provide entertainment for players as the coronavirus pandemic carries on.

Tekken 7's fourth season will give the entire character roaster new moves to use, so players will now have ways to experiment with brand new combo routes. Tekken 7's online experience will also be adjusted, as the Season 4 update will introduce a new ranking system called "Tekken Prowess," and new graphics will show whether a potential opponent is playing on a wired connection or wi-fi. Players will also be able to see how many times an opponent has disconnected.

The end of the trailer also reveals that Bandai Namco will be introducing a new Tekken 7 character. The figure shown is only a silhouette, so it's unclear who it really is. The prevailing theory is that it is Kunimitsu, a shinobi character who hasn't made a canon debut in Tekken since Tekken 2. Season 4 will launch sometime this fall, but Bandai Namco will likely reveal who the character is before then.

Tekken 7 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
