Last year, it was revealed that Negan from The Walking Dead would be making his way to the Tekken 7 roster as yet another guest fighter for the game. Now, many months after Negan's initial announcement, and we finally have a release date for his Tekken 7 debut.

As revealed in a new trailer, The Walking Dead's Negan will be coming to Tekken 7 on February 28. He will come equipped with his signature barbedwire-wrapped baseball bat Lucille, which he uses as his primary weapon while he whacks and trash-talks his opponents. There also appears to be a stage based on The Walking Dead modeled after the infamous "eenie meenie miney moe" scene, where Negan lined up some of the show's central characters and selected some to be executed via baseball bat.

To that end, Negan has some moves that seem based on the way he fights in the show. One move sees Negan slam his bat on the top of his opponents' skulls, and another sees him stab them in the gut with the large knife that he uses to literally disembowel an unlucky character on the show.

Besides confirming Negan's release date and showing off some of his moves in the game, the new Tekken 7 trailer also shines a spotlight on Julia. Julia will be coming to Tekken 7 on the same day as Negan, so players will have the chance to download her on February 28 as well.

Negan is definitely a unique choice for a Tekken 7 guest fighter, especially since his fighting style seems more natural in a game like Mortal Kombat instead. However, Tekken has a history of bizarre guest fighters. Tekken 7 itself has a number of guest fighters, including Street Fighter's Akuma and Fatal Fury's Geese Howard. Tekken 7 also features Noctis, the main protagonist of Final Fantasy 15, as DLC.

It's been nearly two years since Tekken 7's launch, but the game is still receiving regular support from Bandai Namco. Perhaps some of this future support will include more guest fighters as DLC.

Tekken is out now for Arcade, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
