Konami collaborated with merchandise manufacturer Numskull Designs to create collectible replicas of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade machines. These collectibles house two of the famous beat-em-ups based on the classic cartoon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that may leave TMNT fans impressed due to their tiny form factor.
It has been recently revealed that a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game that takes inspiration from God of War and is based on the graphic novel The Last Ronin is in development. The upcoming game, based on the ‘80s Western cartoon and comic book series, seems to be taking a darker route with a more mature tone compared to its predecessors. Previous games in the franchise are colorful and upbeat beat-em-ups such as the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge or the classic 1989 arcade title. With the announcement of a new game to the classic collection Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Collection, there is something for every fan of the franchise to enjoy. The brand’s recent collaboration explores its titles from the golden era of gaming.
Konami and Numskull Designs partnered up to create tiny collectible replicas of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and its sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time arcade cabinets. The tiny cabinets, featuring two video games based on one of the best classic cartoons, are quarter-scaled and feature a six-inch TFT screen with a CRT lens for a more authentic experience. Although it is small, it is fully functional and contains the original arcade ROMs and four-player control panels that are compatible with USB controllers.
Other than the standard editions, there are also a few hundred limited editions of the arcade cabinets that were signed by the TMNT’s co-creator Kevin Eastman. These models will include a quarter-scaled stool, a certificate of authenticity, and an exclusive postcard along with the arcade cabinet. The standard model will cost $299.99 and the limited edition $399.99, respectively. It is a great time to be a TMNT fan, and 2023 is already looking good for fans of the classic TMNT titles.
The novelty item takes it a step further than the Nintendo Switch port Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Collection and will offer fans of the old-school games a way to take a nostalgic trip back to the ‘90s classic titles. The Nintendo Switch port also offers the two titles in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Collection. Players can save their quarters and spend their time as teen turtles fighting in New York City’s sewers to rescue their human friend April O’Neil from arch-nemesis Shredder.
