Platinum Games releases a new trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan that reveals its release date as well as some of its boss fights.

Finally, something revolving around the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan from Platinum Games has been officially announced and not leaked ahead of time. Per a new trailer released earlier today, fans can look forward to playing TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan in a couple of months, as the game drops on May 24th for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

The trailer that revealed the release date for Platinum’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game also focused heavily on the game’s boss battles. Besides doing battle with the run-of-the-mill Foot Clan soldiers, players can also look forward to fighting some of the franchise’s most recognizable villains, including Bebop, Rocksteady, Krang, Super Shredder, and more.

As has been known since the leak of the first TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan trailer, the game’s style shares a lot in common with Platinum’s recently released Transformers: Devastation – a resemblance that extends beyond the two titles both having cel-shaded graphics. For example, Transformers put a lot of emphasis on over-the-top boss encounters and intense action sequences, two things that are also on display in the latest Mutants in Manhattan trailer.

If anyone is still skeptical that the developers at Platinum will be able to pull off a quality Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, hopefully this latest trailer shows that the company has what it takes. The trailer indicates that Platinum has a clear understanding of what people like about the TMNT franchise, and it seems safe to say that anyone that enjoyed Platinum’s Transformers game will probably also enjoy this one, assuming its gameplay is as solid as it looks.

With its release date now in sight and its achievements leaked months ago, there’s still one major question mark looming over the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. As of the time of this writing, Platinum has yet to clarify whether or not TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan will support local co-op options, or if players will have to take it online to roam NYC with all four turtles. It would be nice to know before the game’s launch, so hopefully Platinum Games or publisher Activision lets the cat out of the bag soon.

Even if the game’s local co-op, or lack thereof, is not discussed by the developers up until its release, there is a chance that the information could leak anyway. After all, TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan has been plagued by an almost comical number of leaks so far, which in the past have revealed the game’s achievements, its cel-shaded art style, and its very existence well before anyone involved with it was ready to talk about the game. Here’s hoping Activision and Platinum Games make an official statement soon, or a similar leak pulls the curtain back on how the game’s co-op functionality will work in TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan come its launch in May.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan will be available on May 24th for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
