Teen Wolf: The Movie is nearly here. Ahead of its January 2023 release date, the film has dropped a clip that features the return of a few fan-favorites. Teen Wolf aired on MTV from 2011 and 2017. It started the careers of several prominent actors working today, like Tyler Posey, Dylan O'Brien, and Tyler Hoechlin.

The show was based on the 1985 film of the same name which starred Michael J. Fox in the title role. While the '80s version was a comedy, the MTV series was a teen drama centering on Scott McCall (Posey), a teenage boy who finds himself afflicted with lycanthropy. Over the course of the show, he gains many allies and faces off against many enemies as he fights against the supernatural.

Teen Wolf: The Movie continues the adventures of McCall and his pack (sans certain actors who are absent for this outing, such as Dylan O'Brien). As its release date approaches, Paramount+ posted a new clip of the film on its Twitter. The clip features Derek Hale (Hoechlin) and his 15-year-old son Eli (Vince Mattis). Derek carries Eli into the locker room and gives his son a pep talk when Eli finds himself downcast after being injured in a sports game.

But Derek quickly realizes something is wrong: an arrow nearly kills Eli, who Derek tells to run to safety. It's then revealed that the attacker is none other than Allison Argent (Crystal Reed). Derek is confused as to how this can be possible, but Allison is not forthcoming, and continues to attack him. The clip ends as Allison wounds Derek, firing an arrow through his neck - and it looks like she's about to finish the job, notching an arrow to shoot Derek with.

The clip offers plenty for fans to sink their teeth into. It was already known that Tyler Hoechlin and much of the original cast, including Reed, would be returning. The circumstances around Reed's return are unknown, however - her character died during the course of season 3 of the show. And it's a mystery as to how Derek can have a 15-year-old son, or who Eli's mother might be. Since the show has only been off the air for six or so years, Derek's son was probably born before the original show began. His age was unclear during the original run of the series, but he'd most likely have been a fairly young father when his son would have been born in 2008 - around 15 himself.

The mysteries of the released trailer are fascinating, and will certainly lead to much speculation among fans. Though a few faces will be missing from this reunion, it looks like this new film will capture the tone and style of the original series perfectly.

Teen Wolf: The Movie premieres on Paramount+ on January 26, 2023.
