Ted Lasso is one of television’s biggest hits in 2021, and though the series showed its darker side in season two, it’s safe to say the third act in AFC Richmond’s story won’t be as gritty as this new mashup between coach Lasso and The Batman.

Seeing as the show is still riding the success wave that came with its Emmy blowout, it’s no surprise to see fan-made trailers pop up all over the place, with some daring to transfer Ted Lasso to horror and thriller territory. Suffice to say, there are few trailers as big right now as The Batman's exciting reveal during DC FanDome, and Richmond’s uplifting South London setting still manages to mix well with Matt Reeves' chosen tone for Gotham.

The fantastic trailer made by Jason Gallagher opens up just like The Batman's, with the same lines about fear and the true meaning of the Bat-Signal for criminals. Ted’s phone acts like one of the Riddler’s enigmatic messages, although it helps that the football comedy has a proper villain too. Gallagher’s chosen color palette and his scene selection also pair up perfectly with Ted Lasso's ugliest moments from season two, which when combined with The Batman's music will remind many that Ted is indeed the hero Richmond deserves and needs.

Of course, having The Batman's Warner Bros. logo on another Warner production such as Ted Lasso helps, but the icing on the cake here is probably Roy Kent’s very real and loud cursing, which makes up for the absence of Robert Pattinson's criminal beatdown. Much like Ted Lasso, the kind of Bruce Wayne that fans see in The Batman could be one who’s also struggling to deal with his own share of mental issues, so the crossover couldn’t be any better.

While Ted Lasso won’t come anywhere close to the budget of a blockbuster like The Batman, it’s safe to say season three will see AFC Richmond raise its game, as the team's return to the Premiership comes with a newly signed partnership between the show and the English Premier League. All this means that Ted Lasso could capitalize on its growing popularity by featuring even more cameos from real-life football teams, stars, and managers, especially with it being such a hit among the likes of Jurgen Klopp.

It’s almost guaranteed that Ted Lasso will not be the last show to be matched with The Batman's trailer, as the new teaser has been praised unanimously by figures such as Hideo Kojima and Zack Snyder, so buckle up those batbelts.

Ted Lasso seasons 1-2 are now available on Apple TV Plus and The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.
