Techland is currently hard at work on the upcoming action RPG Dying Light 2: Stay Human, the sequel to 2015's popular open-world survival horror game. The new Dying Light is scheduled for release in late 2021, leading many to ask what Techland might be working on next. New job listings for the Polish game development studio offer up several hints at what that could be. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Techland job postings point toward the team working on yet another AAA open-world RPG.

The first notable job listing for Techland is for a Senior 3D Artist, which lists the position's main responsibility as creating 3D assets for Techland's "next big title." A bullet point listed later then asks the applicant to have a significant amount of experience in creating 3D models specifically for AAA projects. Suffice to say, Techland plans to continue making large games like Dying Light 2, if not even larger AAA projects.

A second job listing goes into more specifics about the nature of Techland's current and upcoming projects. The listing for a Senior Quest Designer asks for an applicant with experience with "open-world action RPG games." And the position itself is obviously telling, too, as they'd be developing narrative-driven quests within this open-world RPG experience. Dying Light 2 would fit into this description, of course, but it's safe to assume that the vast majority of Dying Light 2's narrative work is nearing completion at this point in time.

Another perhaps important detail from the second job listing is that it asks for experience with Unreal Engine's Blueprints system. This is notable because Dying Light 2 isn't being developed on Unreal, but rather a platform named C-Engine. If Techland is hiring developers with Unreal experience, that's very indicative that it's for a new project and that the new project will be built on Unreal.

It's always possible that Techland will be working on multiple projects going forward, too. Perhaps the first project will be a AAA experience unlike anything the team has worked on prior, while the second could be a new open-world game of a smaller scale. That's unlikely, but it's worth pointing out that job listings aren't the best source for making assumptions regarding projects that may or may not even be in full development.

With that said, it seems obvious that Techland will continue to develop games in the vein of Dying Light. After all, the Dying Light franchise has been Techland's focus for the better part of a decade now, outside of the Dead Island: Definitive Collection bundle and FIM Speedway Grand Prix 15. Even without the job listings, Techland can be assumed to be working on another open-world action RPG, perhaps even Dying Light 3.

Dying Light 2 releases December 7 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
