The PlayStation 5 was one of the most-wanted products this holiday season, though many went without one. It's been virtually impossible for shoppers to get their hands on a PS5 console, and with only a few days left in the year, it seems many will have to wait for 2021 to make the jump to next-gen. However, Target shoppers should know that there's a chance PS5 consoles will be in-stock as early as Monday.

This is according to Spiel Times, which cites "numerous sources" that Target is restocking its PS5 consoles on Sunday, December 27, with the consoles being available to purchase at most stores starting Monday, December 28. Not all Target stores are expected to receive another supply of PS5 consoles, but some stores will reportedly be getting around 10 to 15 units. According to Spiel Times, this information mainly applies to Target stores in the midwest.

Before people start standing in line at Target hoping to get a PS5 console, it should be noted that it won't be sitting on store shelves. Perhaps in an effort to avoid crowding and potentially spreading COVID-19, as well as wanting to avoid situations like the Walmart fight over a PS5, Target has made it so PS5 console sales are online-only. Interested consumers will need to buy the PS5 online and then pick it up at their designated store.

As Spiel Times reports, the the timeframe Target is expected to make PS5 consoles available for purchase again is within the 3am and 7am ET window, with 5am - 7am ET being the most likely. Those still hoping to get their hands on a PlayStation 5 console before the end of the year may want to check Target's website repeatedly the next few days during those timeframes for a chance at claiming a PS5 of their own.

Even with this heads-up, though, it will still be very difficult for anyone to get a PS5 of their own. Not only do people have to compete with others who are trying to get a PS5, but they will also likely have to contend with automated bots as well. Automated bots snatching up PS5 restock has proven to be such a problem that politicians in the UK are looking at banning them entirely, so hopefully they won't be as big of an issue during future console generations.

If fans fail to get a PS5 during this Target restock or if they fail to win some of the PS5 console giveaways happening right now, they will likely have to wait until 2021 to get the new console. PS5 supply should meet demand next year, so it should be much easier to get one.
