Gamers hoping to pick up any of the Nintendo Switch's twelve launch titles may have been excited to hear that big box retailer Target is currently running a Buy 2,Get 1 Free deal, but there's a catch: the modest promotion doesn't include any Nintendo Switch titles. While consumers can grab Xbox One, PlayStation 4, 3DS, and previous console generation games in which the deal will apply, those hoping to pick up a bonus Switch game will be out of luck, for the time being.

Of course, that isn't to say that other high profile titles aren't available in Target's latest promotion: Sony fans hoping to pick up the critically acclaimed Horizon: Zero Dawn will be pleased to know that it works with the deal despite being a recent release, and Ubisoft's Ghost Recon: Wildlands (which comes out tomorrow) will work in tandem with the promotion too – it's only Nintendo's newest console which is missing out.

The standout title of the Nintendo Switch's launch lineup is undoubtedly The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which took away a perfect score from our very own review. The game is also available on the Nintendo Wii U, though, oddly enough, the Switch and Wii U versions of the same title both outperform each other in different areas. In any event, anyone who has or will purchase a Nintendo Switch may as well grab the latest Zelda on the higher-end portable console.

In the coming months, retailers will be a little more likely to apply promotions to Nintendo Switch consoles, but for now, it looks like the Nintendo Switch and its catalog of games will be exempt from Target's traditional promotions. For now, only time will tell when Switch fans will get to save themselves a few bucks in future deals, as not everyone will want to pay full price for games like 1-2 Switch, which some equate to a glorified tech demo.

The Nintendo Switch is currently available for purchase now.
