Anyone in the market for a new video game may want to visit Target this week. From now until March 24, Target shoppers can buy one new video game and get one 50 percent off, with some exceptions.

Many new video games are eligible for the promotion, including brand new releases like Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom and Sea of Thieves. However, the upcoming Detective Pikachu for the Nintendo 3DS is not part of the sale. Furthermore, Switch and Wii U titles are excluded, so the sale mainly applies to those gaming on PS4 and Xbox One.

While it seems like PS4 and Xbox One owners will benefit the most from this Target sale, Nintendo fans aren't completely out of luck. In fact, Nintendo Switch owners can get another Switch game for half off if they purchase Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. For the uninitiated, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a crossover between Ubisoft's Rabbids franchise and Super Mario, but with gameplay that takes clear inspiration from games like XCOM.

Besides the Mario + Rabbids Switch deal, Nintendo fans can also snag some discounted amiibo from Target this week. Not all amiibo are on sale, but anyone looking to get their hands on Animal Crossing amiibo will be able to buy many of them at clearance prices.

In the meantime, it will be interesting to see if other stores attempt to match or beat Target's deals. It seems like whenever any of the retail giants launches a promotion like this that the others try to steal the hype, so those looking to buy new video games should keep their eye out for deals elsewhere as well. We haven't seen anything quite as extensive as the deals Target is running this week, but it's possible that announcements could come within the next few days.
