'Tales of Xillia' Characters Feature Diverse Fighting Styles

Tales of Xillia Diverse Fighting Styles Namco Bandai

Tales of Xillia will be the next mothership title in the long-running Tales of RPG series, and with the details that have been revealed so far about the playable characters in the game, there are very diverse and unique fighting styles for players to enjoy.

Namco Bandai has released gameplay stills that show off the character's sleek combat moves, called "artes." Tales of Xillia will feature the "Double Raid Linear Motion Battle System" or DR-LMBS, a battle system that stresses two-character cooperative combat. The main characters use this battle system to team up with each other and deliver a vastly unique combat experience.

Jude Mathis, the main protagonist in Xillia, specializes in martials arts and uses both of his fists in battle, and anyone who has played Tales of Legendia will be reminded of Senel Coolidge who used a similar fighting style. Jude can use his Demon Fist and team up with Milla Maxwell, who is a master swordsman that uses an attack called Wind Lance to combine an attack called Severing Wind Blade, which is pictured below:

Another party member who can team up with Mira is Alvin, a duel-wielder who uses a gun in his left hand and a sword in his right. His Tearing Tiger Fang can be combined with Mira's fire techniqes to create the Crimson Sword, which is pictured below:

The latest Xillia character who has been revealed is Leia Roland, a character who fights with a staff as her weapon of choice. Leia is a childhood friend of Jude's and is very good at raising her team's spirits. Her fighting style allows for her to safely keep her distance from enemies in battle while still being close enough to deal deadly amounts of damage.

The Tales of franchise has certainly been a hit in North America ever since Tales of Symphonia was released on the Nintendo Gamecube and with every new release, there is always something new and innovative brought to the series. With the new battle system as well as the diverse fighting styles each character possesses, Xillia should be a big hit in Japan.

Namco Bandai has already announced that Tales of the Abyss 3DS is coming out in Japan later this spring as well as a North American release of Tales of Graces F coming soon. What the Tales of series is probably best known for is its fast-paced, real-time multiplayer battle system, which has evolved over the years with each release of a new mothership title, or what is otherwise known as a flagship title.

With Tales of fans heavily anticipating this title, think it will make it's way over to North America? Namco Bandai also has a history of porting their original releases over to other consoles so could there be a chance that Xillia could eventually be released on Xbox 360?
