Artifacts play an important role in Tales of Arise. Each one provides a unique bonus, which in turn can make gearing up to take on the game's end and post-game content considerably easier. There are 23 of them to collect in the base version of the game, though players won't be able to get their hands on the final one until after they have completed the main story.
Players will get their first artifact automatically as they progress through the game, but the following 22 will require them to complete sub-quests, find owls and defeat some of the hardest bosses in Tales of Arise. The good news is that those hoping to unlock the Curious Hobbyist trophy/achievement will only need to find 20, although given how useful they all are, it's arguably worth going the extra mile.
Updated November 4, 2021 by Tom Bowen: The JRPG genre is notorious for grinding, and while Tales of Arise is nowhere near as guilty as some of its predecessors in this regard, there are still going to be times when players are going to have to indulge in a spot of farming if they want to make progress. Thankfully, the developers have provided ways to minimize the grind, though, as is often the case in the video game industry, these come at an additional cost. DLC artifacts can save countless hours of playtime while also making things considerably easier, though players will need to spend a few extra dollars in order to reap the rewards associated with these time-saving trinkets.

Mechanical Doll Accessory
Where to find the Mechanical Doll Accessory artifact
Players will find the Mechanical Doll in a red chest after defeating Chronos in the final rift found in the "Otherworldly Visitors" sub-quest. This quest can only be initiated after completing the game.

To reach it, they'll first need to find 32 owls and then make it to Rena, at which point they'll get a message about there being new owls to find. From here, they'll need to head to the Tuah Seashore, where they'll be able to find the message in a bottle that initiates the "Beyond the Grave" sub-quest and grants access to the island.

DLC Artifacts
As well as the 23 artifacts found in the base version of the game, players can also get their hands on a number of special DLC artifacts by purchasing certain add-on packs. There are currently 13 such artifacts available, most of which serve as massive time-savers that can make various elements of the game considerably easier. It's perhaps worth noting that both the Premium Item Pack and the Premium Travel Pack are included with the Ultimate Edition of the game, so those interested in DLC artifacts may want to keep that in mind.
-20% CP Cost
The -20% CP Cost artifact comes as part of the Starter Pack DLC and decreases the CP cost of all Healing Artes by 20%.
10% Off General Store
Players will receive the 10% Off General Store artifact as part of the Premium Item Pack. While active, it reduces the price of items available at general stores by 10%. This effect stacks with other store discounts gained from artifacts.
20% SP Boost
The 20% SP Boost is also included in the Premium Item Pack DLC and increases the amount of SP gained in battle by 20%. This effect stacks with other SP bonuses gained from artifacts and can be toggled on and off in the Artifact Effect menu.
20% EXP Boost
The 20% EXP Boost Artifact is the final artifact included in the Premium Item Pack and provides players with 20% more EXP from battles. This effect stacks with other EXP bonuses gained from artifacts and can be toggled on and off in the Artifact Effect menu.
Double Combat Points
Players can receive the Double Combat Points artifact by purchasing the Growth Boost Pack DLC. As its name suggests, it doubles the number of Combat Points gained in battle. This effect stacks with other Combat Point bonuses gained from artifacts and can be toggled on and off in the Artifact Effect menu.
Double EXP
The Double EXP artifact is one of three artifacts included in the Growth Boost Pack. It doubles the amount of EXP gained in battle. This effect stacks with other EXP bonuses gained from artifacts and can be toggled on and off in the Artifact Effect menu.
Double SP
The Double SP artifact is the final artifact included in the Growth Boost Pack DLC. It doubles the amount of SP gained in battle. This effect stacks with other SP bonuses gained from artifacts and can be toggled on and off in the Artifact Effect menu.
99 Consumables Carrying Capacity
The 99 Consumables Carrying Capacity artifact increases the party's carry capacity for all consumables from 15 to 99 and is included in the Relief Support Pack.
50% Off Goldsmith
The 50% Off Goldsmith artifact reduces the cost for services at the goldsmith by 50% and is one of several artifacts included in the Premium Travel Pack.
Minimalist Weapon Forging
The Minimalist Weapon Forging artifact is the second artifact bundled with the Premium Travel Pack DLC and reduces the amount of each crafting material required for any given weapon to one.
Minimalist Cooking
Players will receive the Minimalist Cooking artifact after purchasing the Premium Travel Pack DLC. It's effectively the cooking equivalent of the Minimalist Weapon Forging artifact, in that it decreases the amount of each ingredient required for any given cooking recipe to one.
30% Off General Store
The 30% Off General Store artifact decreases the cost of all goods at inns and general stores by 30% and is included in the Premium Travel Pack DLC. This effect stacks with other store discounts gained from artifacts.
Double Cooking Effect Time
The Double Cooking Effect Time artifact is the last artifact included in the Premium Travel Pack and doubles the amount of time that cooking-related buffs remain active. This effect stacks with other cooking buff bonuses gained from artifacts and can be toggled on and off in the Artifact Effect menu.
