While Bandai Namco had hoped to surprise fans with the announcement of some new exciting games, it appears those plans have been botched by a security vulnerability on its site. Through this vulnerability, someone was able to gain access to the Bandai Namco site and discover what the publisher has planned for E3 2019, including the name of From Software’s new game with George RR Martin, a Ni No Kuni Remaster, and a new entry in the Tales franchise.

While details on the From Software game is relatively slim, the new Tales game seems to be further along. According to a press release, the game will be called Tales of Arise and it will update the series with modern combat and high fidelity visuals but with classic Tales gameplay mixed in.

To help better illustrate the game’s visuals, Bandai Namco’s site included a few Tales of Arise screenshots mainly focused on the environment and combat. Both screenshots are undeniably from the Tales lineage but the fidelity is much higher than the last game to release in the series, Tales of Berseria.

The press release also gives an idea of the game’s story, which features a classic JRPG conflict between an affluent city in the sky and the city below:

Challenge the Fate That Binds You

On the planet Dahna, reverence has always been given to Rena, the planet in the sky, as a land of the righteous and divine. Stories handed down for generations became truth and masked reality for the people of Dahna. For 300 years, Rena has ruled over Dahna, pillaging the planet of its resources and stripping people of their dignity and freedom. Our tale begins with two people, born on different worlds, each looking to change their fate and create a new future.

Although this leak spoiled the initial reveal for Bandai Namco, there is likely more to be shown of and said about Tales of Arise in the coming days. It’s possible that the game might make an appearance during Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference but if not Bandai Namco should unveil a new trailer as the show floor opens on Tuesday, potentially earlier.

However, Elden Ring, the name game from From Software and A Song of Ice and Fire (the Game of Thrones writer) author George RR Martin, is most assuredly going to appear on Microsoft’s stage. The game has been rumored for some time now and details have been leaking from various sources left and right. Now fans have something official to consider in preparation for a larger reveal this coming week.
