As with almost any JRPG, Tales of Arise features a leveling system that determines how strong characters are. As players do battle with the various monsters and human enemies throughout the game, their characters will gain experience and become more powerful. Higher than standard level caps are a common feature in Tales games, but this newest one takes a different approach. Players wanting to reach the max level should know what they're working towards, as this will be a good indicator of how long it will take to get there. It's also worth noting that the main story alone won't take players all the way to max level, so they'll have to do a bit of grinding on the side as well.

Tales of Arise players may be used to the max level of other Tales games, but things are a bit different this time around. Rather than use the relatively high max level from before, players will find a new max that condenses the leveling rate significantly. This means that players level up slower in this game, but each level tends to be more impactful in regards to how much stronger a character gets.

The max level in Tales of Arise is 100. For fans used to the level 200 maximum from other games in the franchise, this may seem a bit low, but it has its advantages. As previously mentioned, getting a new level should feel much more important in Tales of Arise, as it is effectively equal to earning two levels in previous games. The downside to this is that leveling up will take twice as long, so players will have to be patient.

There is a trophy for reaching level 100, so players wanting to get the platinum trophy for Tales of Arise will need to do quite a bit of grinding to reach the max level. Players report that getting to the endgame will only take players to about level 50-55, and leveling up takes longer as players get higher. In order to level up fast, players will want to obtain the Golden Suit of Armor artifact, as this gives an 80% boost to experience. After this, the level 95 boss called Chronus can be farmed repeatedly to get massive amounts of experience.

With this method, it's possible to reach the max level in just a few short hours, but it won't be easy. Players must complete the quest "Another Hillside Anomaly" in order to unlock this boss, and it is one of the longest and most difficult int he game.

Tales of Arise is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
