Tales of Arise is a huge game, and there is a significant amount of combat throughout its lengthy campaign and the post-game content. Thankfully, the combat system is one of the series' best, and real evolution of the Linear Motion Battle System of old. The fighting system consistently evolves as the characters level up and unlock more skills.

In addition to gaining new skills and abilities, Tales of Arise's fighting system wouldn't be as entertaining without a great selection of weapons. Each character has their own ultimate weapon to obtain. Here's where players can get them all, and unleash every character's fighting potential.

Note: This list won’t be including the character’s Devil Arms Weapons. The Devil Arms are a recurring weapon in the Tales series but they come with one major drawback. The effectiveness of the Devil Arms is dependant on how many enemies the wearer has defeated in their playthrough. With the amount of fighting needed in Tales of Arise, it’s likely the Devil Arms weapon will be the most powerful weapon for the most used characters in the game. However, for the purposes of this guide, the Devil Arms weapons have not been included.

  • All Devil Arms weapons for each character are obtained in The Otherworld during the Otherworldly Visitors sub-quest. This content is only accessible in the post-game content by loading the Clear Save Data file.

Updated by October 21, 2021, by Michael Llewellyn: There is a lot of useful and powerful weapon in Tales of Arise that will be more than sufficient for completing the game's main story. However, the most powerful weapons in the game can only be found after the game has been completed. Having a good understanding of how each character works in battle will go a long way toward using these weapons effectively. However, the best weapons in Tales of Arise aren't just limited to the endgame content, as one can carry them over into the New Game Plus mode.

Alphen is the main character in Tales of Arise and will likely be the most used character in the game. He has a combination of speed and power and when under the player's control he is the most versatile fighter on the battlefield.

Alphen’s most powerful weapon is the Realm Unifier. It's a craftable weapon that is only available after the game has been completed. Here are the steps to obtain the required materials for the Realm Unifier:

  • Finish and complete the sub-quest "Healer and Her Patients".
  • Accept the sub-quest called "The Mysterious Pair" by speaking to the Wonder Bard in Mahag Saar - Niez. Alphen will be tasked with solving three riddles known as Wonder Texts to find his missing instrument.
  • The Wonder Text Riddles -- as they are written in the game -- and the solution is:
    • Wonder Text 1: Just beyond the hovels in a land shrouded by sand and stone.
    • Wonder Text 2: The northernmost reaches of a wasteland to the north of an abandoned village.
    • Wonder Text 3: It lies dormant at the back of a narrow road to the west, whereupon an ancient tower stands.
    • The Instrument's Location: The location of the instrument will be found at the northernmost corner of Calaglia: The Iglia Wastes. This is the location of The Iron Pipe, the first craftable item required for the Realm Unifier.
  • Once the Iron Pipe has been obtained and the Mysterious Pair quest has been completed Alphen will need the following items:
    • 4 Ominous Eyeballs dropped by the Astral Sloth in Tarfhal Helgarahi.
    • 2 Cursed Claws dropped by the Astral Doubts in Tarfhal Helgarahi.
    • 5 Blistering Fangs dropped by Furious Boars in the "Otherworldly Visitors" sub-quest. The Otherworld can only be accessed after loading the Clear Game Save Data and ensuring the Spirit Temple and Hillside Anomaly sub-quests have been completed beforehand.
  • With all of the above tasks completed and items collected The Realm Unifier can be forged.

Shionne is both a long-range fighter and the party's main healer. She's great at creating distance between herself and the enemies on the battlefield. She's also the most effective fighter when it comes to taking down flying monsters.

The Monochrome Spiral is Shionne’s best weapon. However, like Alphen’s Nebilim Sword, it can only be obtained in the post-game content. To do this, one needs to access their Clear Data save file that is marked with a star. The Forge Weapon menu screen will show the Monochrome Spiral as a weapon that can be crafted.

Artifact Required To Carry Weapons Into New Game Plus

A long-standing feature in the Tales series is being able to carry over equipment and stats earned in the main game by meeting certain requirements. That is still the case in Tales of Arise but instead of trying to meet the game's criteria, one has to collect artifacts. To carry over weapons and other pieces of equipment the player needs to find the Battle Maiden's Shield.

A complete guide on finding all the Artifacts for the New Game Plus can be found in this guide.
