There haven’t been too many details on the 3DS port of Tales of the Abyss since it was announced, but in a new issue of Famitsu, the game fromĀ Namco Bandai was featured – revealing some interesting facts.

Tales of the Abyss takes places on the world of Auldrant, which is composed of a special type of energy called Fonons. One of these Fonons can be used to read the future, and after a prominent religious figure uses that ability to bestow a prophecy among the world’s inhabitants, it eventually envelopes all of the main characters of the game.

For the 3DS port of the Abyss, the controls as well as the graphics will not differ too much from the PS2 original. New features include displaying events in the game in widescreen as well as take advantage of the 3D effects.

Tales of the Abyss fans will be delighted to hear that no voice-overs were removed for the 3DS version, which is very fortunate since the voice acting in the Tales of series is known for its high quality.

Namco Tales Studio feels that, since the PS2 version was so complete, there was no need to add too many new features to the 3DS version. Still the developer is planning some special surprises for fans. Unfortunately, those new features were not revealed, so players will have to wait until the game’s release gets closer.

The North American version of Abyss, which features extra features over the Japanese counterpart, served as the base of the 3DS port.

With the news that Tales of the Abyss on the 3DS won’t be bringing that many changes to the port, will gamers feel that it is worth buying?
