The latest weekly poll of most-anticipated upcoming games from Japanese magazine Famitsu is in, and the winner may be surprising to some. The number one spot goes to Bandai Namco's in-development JRPG Tales of Arise, accruing 657 overall votes between October 22 and October 28. Tales of Arise will be the first release in the franchise since 2016, so it's easy to see why Famitsu readers may be excited about it.

Number two on Famitsu's list is Cyberpunk 2077. The December 10 release likely has Famitsu readers' anticipation building to a peak. Third on the list is Monster Hunter Rise, the Nintendo Switch-exclusive Monster Hunter game announced in mid-September. Fourth is the next entry in Capcom's most-popular franchise, Resident Evil Village. Rounding out the top five is another Nintendo Switch exclusive, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2.

The top ten list also includes Final Fantasy 16, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Shin Megami Tensei 5, Bayonetta 3, and Bravely Default 2. Six different Nintendo Switch games are in the top ten, with the remaining being PlayStation games. Both the PC and Xbox go entirely unrepresented in the top thirty, though this is not particularly surprising for Japanese audiences.

Compared to the previous week's rankings, there hasn't been much change on Famitsu's list. The biggest shift was the climb of Monster Hunter Rise from fifth to third, and Final Fantasy 16 up to sixth. Perhaps as the holiday season starts, following the next-gen consoles launch, gamers may be feeling nostalgic for their favorite franchises. That said, it's hard to argue that those games don't deserve a high placement in peoples' list of interests.

Tales of Arise is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
