Wolfenstein: The New Order follows the events of Wolfenstein, set after the Nazis win World War II. As Captain William Blazkowicz, players strike back against the Nazis, who are using advanced technology like robots and computer AI to assert global dominance. The story is arranged in chapters as a straightforward narrative, though a choice early on changes some of the characters and events encountered over the course of the game.

The gameplay is fairly standard for a first-person shooter—players can use melee attacks, guns, and explosives to defeat enemies, and a cover system allows for stealth and some tactical advantage. The game also features a good deal of weapon customization, allowing players to combine multiple weapons for an advanced combat experience.

Wolfenstein: The New Order received generally positive reviews, with critics praising the game’s intense and varied combat. As the newest entry in the series, Wolfenstein: The New Order stayed true to the series’ roots but updated the mechanics, story, and gameplay for a new generation. The game received numerous “Game of the Year” awards and nominations, as well as “Best Shooter” and “Biggest Surprise” awards.
