What is Resident Evil 7?

Resident Evil 7 is a first-person survival-horror game where players try to survive on a mysterious plantation in the deep south. The plantation is owned by the sinister Baker family, a group of seemingly invincible psychopaths that perform horrible experiments on those unlucky enough to cross their path. Resident Evil 7 protagonist Ethan is one such unlucky soul, arriving on the Baker family plantation in search of his missing wife. Lacking the combat prowess of past Resident Evil heroes, Ethan must rely on his wits if he hopes to elude the Baker family and make it off the plantation in one piece.

While Ethan is not as proficient with weapons as Jill Valentine or Leon S. Kennedy, that doesn’t mean he’s completely defenseless. While exploring the Baker family plantation, Ethan will have access to a variety of weapons, including handguns, shotguns, flamethrowers, and more. These weapons will help Ethan defend himself against the terrors of the plantation, but in typical survival-horror fashion, his best strategy will be to avoid head-on encounters whenever possible and hide from his deadly opponents. Inventory management will also play a key role in Resident Evil 7’s gameplay, as will puzzle-solving and exploration, which will bring the series back to its roots.
