Overwatch is a team-based first-person shooter that doesn’t feature a campaign mode, but does offer over twenty heroes with unique skills and abilities. Unlike many other FPS always online games, players need to work closely with teams in order to succeed in Overwatch. The game’s characters fall into a few roles; including healers, assassins, tanks, and support. Each character has strengths and weaknesses, so players are constantly working through a rock, paper, scissors mins game to form the best group of heroes against the current opponents.
The game launched to positive reviews and is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Blizzard isn’t ruling out the possibility of cross-play on consoles, but does want to keep the PC environment separate due to how much faster the mouse and keyboard setup is. The developer started making character nerfs and power level tweaks just a few weeks after launch and will need to continue to tweak the environment constantly to build and maintain a healthy competitive scene.
