- Release Sep 30, 2015
If you’ve ever wanted to reimagine the original Super Mario Bros., Nintendo has your back. With Mario Maker, players will be able to create and play their own stages in both the original 8-bit and new HD graphics styles.
Even better, footage shown at the 2014 Video Game Awards showed more versatility in level design, as Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World graphics will also be available. Nintendo has also said that they will include even more styles in the full game release, potentially even from games not in the Mario series.
Using the blocks, pipes, enemies, and power-ups from the Mario series, Mario Maker players can create levels as simple or complicated as they desire—trapping their friends in difficult puzzles or manipulating mechanics to make classic levels even more fun. For fans of the Mario series, creating your own levels is a dream come true.
Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has said that the release of Mario Maker is intended to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., allowing fans to celebrate by reimagining their favorite series. With this creative new approach to a beloved game, Nintendo is sure to entice fans who might not have picked up a Mario game in ages.
