The action-packed futuristic dystopia of Mad Max is finally coming to a console or computer near you. As the titular Mad Max, players will participate in a wild and crazy, destructive, derby-esque game, with a variety of weapons to choose from—like Mad Max‘s shotgun and ‘thunderstick,’ an explosive used to blow up enemies.
Mad Max will allow for a variety of playstyles, encouraging players to pursue stealth or aggressive combat to recover the titular character’s prized car, the Pursuit Special. Along with his mechanic, Chumbucket, Mad Max can explore the vast Australian wasteland in his new car, the Magnum Opus, including the wide-open “Big Nothing.” In the Big Nothing, Mad Max will face sandstorms, starvation, and dehydration to find rare parts to improve his car. He’ll have to rely on eating animals and maggots, but such is the life of a post-apocalyptic road warrior.
Players can modify their car to their liking, making both technical and aesthetic changes to craft the vehicle they want. The changes will affect the car’s handling as well, as weight and other specifications will shift with any modifications made.
Though Mad Max has seen some potholes on its road to development, including a complete reset in the development process, it is set for release in 2015.
