Just Cause 3

Just Cause 3
  • Platform PC, PS4, Xbox One
  • Release Dec 31, 2015
  • Developer Avalanche Studios
  • Publisher Square Enix
Official Site: justcause.com

The Just Cause series is known for combining third-person shooter mechanics with a driving game, allowing for full exploration of the tropical locales at the player’s leisure. Just Cause 3 will be the same, putting players in the role of Rico Rodriguez as he tries to take down the brutal dictatorship of General Di Ravello.

Like previous games, the world of Just Cause 3 will be enormous, spreading across roughly 400 square miles of virtual terrain. It will also include more vertical exploration, allowing players to travel down into caves and up buildings and cliffs.

Just Cause 3 also features the return of some of Just Cause 2‘s favorite tools, such as the grappling hook and parachute, with improvements made to their performance. Similarly, the game will feature the chaos that makes the series so popular, with an emphasis on playing in the sandbox world while the story takes a back seat.

But that doesn’t mean the story is being ignored. According to the game’s developers, Just Cause 3‘s story will be more serious in tone while still allowing for the wackiness of the series’ core gameplay. The game hopes to balance hilarity with a well-written story, satisfying old fans with their dedication to quality, and bringing in new ones with more innovation.
