Final Fantasy 15

Final Fantasy 15
  • Platform PS4, Xbox One
  • Release Dec 31, 2015
  • Developer Square Enix
  • Publisher Square Enix
Official Site: finalfantasyxv.com

The Final Fantasy series is iconic in gaming history, and Final Fantasy XV is set to follow suit. Final Fantasy XV will feature an open-world setting and action-based gameplay similar to another of Square Enix’s big moneymakers, Kingdom Hearts.

Final Fantasy XV will take place in a world similar to modern-day Earth, where political power is determined by the number of magical crystals a society holds. As Noctis Lucis Caelum, crown prince of Lucis, players will navigate through a fantasy-inspired setting to retrieve his kingdom’s crystal and defeat an enemy power.

Final Fantasy XV boasts a revamped combat system in which there are no load screens or transitions—instead, players can avoid combat if they run away from an enemy before a timer counts down. Even though Noctis will be the only playable character, the game will feature a rotating cast of party members with different skills. A number of the series’ famed summonable monsters will also return to ramp up the player’s power.

Though release date details are sparse, Final Fantasy XV is sure to be a solid entry in the long-running series, revitalizing some key elements while keeping the heart of this storytelling RPG intact.
