Official Site: borderlandsthegame.com

The Borderlands series is famed for its zany humor and rewarding loot-gathering system. Set on the contested planet of Pandora, the game follows the player character as they try to find a vault full of loot that may or may not exist. Players can choose from between several different Vault Hunters with different combat styles, including stealth, elemental magic, gunplay, and melee berserking. The series has three core games: Borderlands, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!, which takes place between the events of the first two games.

There are also several spinoffs, including an iOS game and a Telltale game, Tales from the Borderlands, which reprises the original story from a new perspective. An exclusive MMO version of the game will also be available in China this year. Borderlands is known for its distinctive cel-shaded art style, giving the characters and environments a cartoony look that suits the game’s over-the-top humor. The game features a multiplayer mode that allows two-person local co-op or up to four via LAN or online. The series has been well-received for its blending of first-person shooter gameplay with RPG mechanics, and lives on in DLC and the Telltale game, as no further sequels are in development at this time.
