The Battlefield series is known for its military settings and fun online play, but Battlefield Hardline is taking the series to the streets. The newest game in the series will pit police officers against criminals, allowing players to experiment with new weapons and mechanics including tasers, handcuffs, and other police weaponry, in addition to military-grade weaponry. Hardline will feature the Levolution mechanic from previous games, which allows the players to change the appearance and layout of the levels.
Other new features in Battlefield Hardline include the five new multiplayer modes: Heist, in which criminals must steal money from armored trucks; Blood Money, in which police and criminals must get money back to their own armored truck; Hotwire, which will be a high-speed chase; Rescue, in which police will save hostages from criminals; and Crosshair, in which police officers escort a reformed criminal to safety. The single-player campaign will follow officer Nick Mendoza as he tracks down a drug supply chain to its source, exposing corruption in the criminal and law enforcement worlds as he goes. According to the developers, the story is a greater focus in Battlefield Hardline, and the game will be an improvement over previous entries in the series. Battlefield Hardline is set for release in March of 2015.
