DICE’s fourth entry in the Battlefield series features the world on the brink of war, as tensions between Russia, the United States, and China escalate to cataclysmic levels. Battlefield 4‘s single-player campaign follows Sgt. Daniel Recker and several other characters trying to stop an all-out world war.
In single-player mode, the player can use an Engage command and a tactical visor to control teammates and scout for items, weapons, explosives, and objectives in the field. Battlefield 4 was well-received by critics and praised for its multiplayer mode, which has a variety of maps, weapons, and mechanics to keep each match unique and fun, despite numerous glitches.
The single-player campaign was less liked by critics, who deemed it a bit shallow and underdeveloped. Still, the game’s rewarding of teamwork and its enjoyable multiplayer system has made it a popular entry in the first-person shooter genre, and more entries in the Battlefield series are planned for the future.
