The strangest business partners in gaming are at it again, Taco Bell and Microsoft are teaming up to give out free Xbox swag. The latest Taco Bell promotion is gives customers a chance to win a new Xbox One X, along with an Xbox Elite Series 2 controller potentially even before it's widely available.

The last time Taco Bell ran an Xbox promotion was in 2017, where the fast food company also gave away free Xbox One X consoles. The details are a little different this time around, but the promotion is mostly similar, with some new wrinkles and opportunities to win a new controller or a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Starting October 17 and running through November 23, ordering a Double Chalupa Box will get folks a code to enter for a a chance at an Xbox One X Eclipse bundle. The Eclipse bundle includes a limited edition Xbox One X Eclipse black and white console that promptly makes Taco Bell ring at startup, an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, and a six-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

But that's not all. Any Taco Bell customer can win two weeks of Xbox Game Pass if they go through the right hoops. Order a double chalupa box online or through the Taco Bell app and get a code for a 2-week Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership which, according to the rules, can be stacked with one other code for a maximum of one free month with two orders.

Game Pass Ultimate normally costs $15 and includes Xbox and PC Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold. On its surface these deal may seem fine, but there are often better discounts on Game Pass and other Microsoft services that have always made it easy to sign up for a trial or heavily discounted month. The real opportunity here is for fans to potentially be able to get access to the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller a week or two early, but that seems like it may not happen.

The promotion begins in October, but the Elite Series 2 is not supposed to release until November 4. Some fans believe that this may let them score the controller early but this is not the case. In the rules page of the promotion on Taco Bell's website under section six, "To Claim A Prize" it reads "please allow approximately six (6) to eight (8) weeks from the date of redemption/the end of the Game Period to receive a prize." This means if anyone was to win, they probably won't get their Xbox One X Eclipse Bundle until 2020.
