Due to the abundance of resources online and in print, almost anyone can pick up a new artistic skill for little to no cost at all. Video game developers have been picking up on this in recent years, but for Stephen Ddungu, the developer of Sword of Symphony, being self-taught goes beyond gaming. As shown through Sword of Symphony's story and protagonist Stephen, an artist can teach themselves to do anything they set their mind to.

In a recent interview with Game Rant, Stephen Ddungu sat down to discuss the themes and characters found in Sword of Symphony. In a lot of ways, Stephen has chosen to base these new projects on his own life leading up to this point. As a self-taught composer and animation creator, Stephen has added game development to his list of skills in recent years. The creator already has another game, Purpose: Versus, and an animation by a similar name. However, this new music-based game has skyrocketed in popularity and likely will be even more beloved when fans see how true the motivations of the protagonist really are.

A Mirror Image in Sword of Symphony

While Ddungu decided to take a more fantastical approach with the characters in the Purpose series, Stephen of Sword of Symphony seems to be more down to earth. The character will likely be more relatable because they're based on the developer and his life's story thus far. Just like Ddungu, Stephen will be a self-taught musician with a need to prove himself and a dream worth fulfilling amongst trained professionals. As a self-taught game developer, musician, and animator, there is no one more qualified to tell this story than Ddungu.

While he's still ironing out the details, the clear structure for the game will be a guy named Stephen, who's a self-taught Composer and will use his powers in order to prove himself to his peers. In Sword of Symphony's world, there are official means in order to rise in the ranks and become a Composer, but Stephen taught himself and will have to spend some time proving himself as adequate. This is likely a relatable feeling for any who haven't had access to education or training, but want to explore and create inside that field anyway. Ddungu can tap into something this real because it's a universal feeling of needing to prove oneself fueling the story.

No one man works alone, even if they're the only one working on a project. Stephen Ddungu may be the sole developer on Sword of Symphony, but he was quick to share that he worked alongside peers in the industry. In his game, Stephen will also rely on the other Composers and will likely need their help if he ever hopes to reach the rank of a Maestro, the more powerful iteration of a Composer. While Stephen may be alone, he can always turn to his friends to have his back, in-game or IRL.

Ddungu is undoubtedly an extremely talented individual who's taught himself music composition, animation, and game development by the age of 22. A recent graduate of the university and eager to prove himself as much as his in-game character, Ddungu cares about the message and music he's putting out into the world with Sword of Symphony. With some impressive features already shown off, and more in development, Ddungu will likely be impressing his fans and peers with Sword of Symphony for the years of development to come.
