Bossa Studios' Surgeon Simulator released in 2013 and become a YouTube phenomenon thanks to its intentionally over-the-top physics-based controls and outrageous scenarios, having players perform literal heart surgery with tools like hammers. It would come to feature a crossover with Valve's Team Fortress 2 and a surgery option for President Donald Trump, and now Surgeon Simulator 2 is set to crank things up to 11 when it releases on August 27.

The developer released a trailer today showcasing the game's "Creation Mode," which lets up to four players do essentially everything but perform surgery. Players can build their operating room for Surgeon Simulator 2 in ways reminiscent of Garry's Mod, or they can eschew the idea all together by building giant mazes and elaborate Saw traps. All content can also be shared and downloaded online.

Surgeon Simulator 2 had a trailer at the Guerrilla Collective showcase last month that went into the title's main gameplay, as well as its progression system that lets players customize their characters. It can be pre-ordered now through the Epic Games Store to access a closed beta from August 7 to 9, and there are two different versions that include cosmetic outfits: A "Standard" edition that provides a mad scientist uniform, and a "Deluxe" edition that adds that plus a superhero outfit.

Though Surgeon Simulator 2 looks wildly different than its simple predecessor, Bossa Studios clearly appears to have a fun experience in mind. Those who enjoy a Valve-style level editor and physics engine in particular have a lot to look forward to.

Surgeon Simulator 2 will be available on the Epic Games Store August 27.
