As a cinematic video game experience that almost feels like a movie, The Quarry will have players hanging on the edge of their seats. In a game where every choice matters and will determine the fates of the stories’ characters, players will need to navigate the 15 paths (where the key decision-making happens) and minor choices that will determine the path’s outcome present within the game to achieve their most optimal ending in The Quarry.

The Quarry features an autosave that will preserve the player’s progress every few minutes, making the choices paramount. Every decision will trigger the butterfly effect and players may be most surprised at how the story twists and turns.

6 Don’t Open The Trap Door

The Quarry Emma

During chapter 4 and in classic horror movie fashion, Emma is THAT character that will begin vlogging her experience, hiking through the forest at night and highlighting the spooky sounds on her adventure. Stumbling upon a tree house, the player will be given the option to search inside or to open the trapdoor above her.

Should Emma open the trapdoor, a turned Max will attack her and eventually turn her into a werewolf. By having Emma die, players won’t get to experience the touching reunion between her and Jacob.

5 To Cut Or Not To Cut

During the events of chapter 5, Dylan and Ryan will enter a radio shack in the hopes of warning Kaitlyn of danger. Unfortunately, a werewolf lurks nearby and will sink its fangs into Dylan’s hand. Here, the player has the option to either shoot off Dylan’s hand with a shotgun or to cut it off with a chainsaw in the hopes of preventing the infection from spreading. There is also an option to not do anything.

Players should most definitely opt for the chainsaw as it not only allows both characters to survive and move on but will also open up some dialogue options later in the game.

4 Abigail’s Fate When She Encounters Nick

Part of the Pieces of Silver path, this decision revolves around cupid-struck Abi and her relationship with Nick. Regardless of how the player approached that dynamic, Nick will eventually show up at the pool house in chapter 6 and be very much infected. It is here where players determine Abi’s fate.

Abi can either shoot or not shoot. Should she fire her gun, Nick will scamper away into the darkness and Abi will remain safe. Should she abstain from shooting, she will be subjected to one of The Quarry's most brutal deaths as Nick will rush up towards her and end her life. Given the fact that Abi is key to saving other characters later on in the story, losing her means losing the others.

3 In The House Of Horrors

In chapter 8, Laura and Ryan will turn up at the Hackett House whilst navigating through some tunnels. At some point in the house, Bobby will stab Ryan. The good news is that Ryan won’t die just yet. The knife can be pulled out earlier or later. If the knife is still in Ryan’s possession, this will unlock an option later for Ryan to return the favor and stab Bobby back. Doing so will make Bobby vulnerable and incapable of being able to fight his brother, Chris, later on, resulting in Bobby’s death. Should he not be stabbed, Bobby will get knocked out but will survive the night.

Another key decision is when Laura and Ryan encounter a transformed Nick, who is locked within a cage. Laura will then aim her gun at Nick and the player will have the decision to either have Ryan stop her or allow her to shoot. Should Laura shoot Nick, he will die. However, if she is stopped, Ryan must then solve one of The Quarry's puzzles that will allow Jacob to escape. The wrong combination may result in Jacob’s death.

2 Shooting Bobby In The Woods

By chapter 10, should Ryan, Laura, Bobby, and Nick still be alive, Ryan and Laura will encounter Bobby carrying Nick through the woods. If the player has Ryan shoot at Bobby, he will drop a werewolf vial which is an item that can mask human scent. Players will have the option to have Ryan or Laura coat themselves in the blood which will come in handy as the players attempt to unravel the mystery of the White Wolf later on.

Not having this vial of blood will most likely guarantee the deaths of Laura and Ryan during their encounter with Silas. Silas will kill anyone that doesn’t have the werewolf scent on them.

1 The Syringe

When Laura heals during the events of chapter 7, she can go on ahead and wander about the police station to look for items and gear. One of the key items here is the syringe and substance within it that police officer Travis used to knock her out (in the prologue).

The syringe is important to find and use as it significantly impacts the storyline and outcomes of several characters. During a confrontation between Laura and Travis, Laura will have the option of using the syringe to render Travis unconscious instead of shooting him. By doing this, an uneasy peace will ensue between the two characters later on as they put aside their differences to figure out the mystery of the White Wolf. No syringe means Laura will shoot at Travis and shooting at Travis will likely guarantee Laura’s death at his hands later on and dooming others in the process.

The Quarry is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
