That's right folks, we won't be seeing a Hyper Super Street Fighter IV Turbo, which is good in some regards, and bad in others. Street Fighter IV's producer, Yoshinori Ono, is more than aware of the mistakes Capcom has made in the past, and refuses to repeat them.

Here's Ono's final word on the matter:

"Super Street Fighter IV should be the distinctive end. Obviously there can be updates via DLC so perhaps in 2011, we could upload a patch for Super Street Fighter IV 2011 edition that would have tuning and balancing. But as a packaged product, I think this is the last."

And here is Ono's thoughts on the matter:

"I have no intention of carrying on Street Fighter IV into Hyper Street Fighter IV or Ultra Street Fighter IV, because I'm aware of the mistakes Capcom has made in the past. So what we would like to do instead is to broaden the appeal because if we go onto Hyper Street Fighter IV or Ultra Street Fighter IV, we'd be narrowing the appeal to the top hardcore players, as we've seen with Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. So whether it would be a different IP or another Street Fighter, we'd like to keep options open. But in terms of Street Fighter IV, this is definitive."

It's awesome to see a producer be so candid about his thoughts on Capcom's past work. Simply put though, this is just a smart business decision. Street Fighter IV has become an international hit, and wringing every dollar you can out of the game is likely going to hurt the brand more than help it. With the upcoming release of Super Street Fighter IV, and a promise of upcoming DLC and balance adjustments, Street Fighter fans have to be very satisfied customers.

Super Street Fighter IV is due for release April 27 in North American and April 20 in Europe for PlayStation 3 and XBox 360.
