It’s certainly been an exciting day in the world of Nintendo. Not only did the Nintendo 3DS finally receive a solid launch date and price today, but the first confirmed game for its long anticipated launch line-up has been revealed. I’m speaking of course about Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, a game that has been something of a poster boy for the 3DS ever since the system was shown in action at last year’s E3.
The announcement that Super Street Fighter would be joining the 3DS for its North American launch really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who payed attention to this year’s Nintendo World. The game was already announced as part of Japan’s 3DS launch line-up, so doing the same for North America seems like a no-brainer.
In addition to the official confirmation that Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition would launch alongside our version of the 3DS, a couple of trailers were released showing off some new gameplay from the well known beat-em up. The first trailer is an english version of the trailer shown off a few weeks ago at Nintendo World, and the second trailer is just pure unadulterated, shoryuken-filled madness.
The trailer detailing all of the new features that avid fighting game enthusiasts will have to look forward to in the 3D edition Street Fighter is below.
The second trailer showing off pure gameplay from the game can also be seen right here.
Super Street Fighter is looking to be the best game come 3DS launch time, and for very good reason. The game looks quite impressive for a handheld title and the online multiplayer features, 35 character roster, collectable trophies, game sharing ability, spectator mode, and 3D gameplay certainly don’t take away anything from the game’s overall appeal and life expectancy. You done good Capcom, you done good.
Is Super Street Fighter IV a day one purchase for you? What other games are you hoping make the North American 3DS launch?
It’s been a long time coming, but everyone will finally be able to get their hands on Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition on March 27, 2011, on the Nintendo 3DS.
