There's no doubt that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a wide range of different fighters from which to choose, and one fan recently decided to gather a bunch of data so as to determine which is the best character for competitive play. Absent from this list, of course, is Waluigi, as Nintendo decided to leave him off of the base game's roster. Nevertheless, one player decided to remedy this by creating a mod that adds the purple-clad arch-rival of Luigi to the Switch exclusive.

Thanks to the work of the modder and YouTuber known as Mizumi, with help from the likes of Ploaj and Mastaklo, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans should soon be able to utilize a mod that brings Waluigi into the game as a model swap for Captain Falcon. According to Mizumi, skin recolors and UI for the character still need to be made, and the mod will officially become available for others to download upon their completion.

For the uninitiated, when Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was initially announced, Nintendo managed to both excite and disappoint some fans by revealing that even though the roster includes every fighter yet and then some, Waluigi would still not be playable. Nevertheless, the Big N did assuage some fans by at the very least bringing him back as an Assist Trophy that can be used to one's advantage during matches.

Taking all of this into consideration, it's safe to presume that many Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans will be keeping tabs on Mizumi's Waluigi mod in order to play as Wario's partner-in-crime once the fan creation is finally finished. Until then, the forthcoming fighters from the game's DLC Challenger Packs could possibly fill the void felt by some players, as rumors indicate a bevy of exciting and unconventional character additions to the title.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for Nintendo Switch.
