Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans have been waiting patiently to see the next DLC fighter for Fighters Pass Vol. 2, and now it's finally been confirmed. The next DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is yet another Xbox-owned character in the form of Steve from Minecraft, along with some other Minecraft characters as alternate skins.

Steve from Minecraft was announced in an action-packed trailer that showed Mario in the middle of a fight with characters who are already on the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster. He is then knocked into what is seemingly another dimension, and is confronted by none other than Steve. As the trailer goes on, fans can see how various Minecraft quirks, like placing blocks, eating meat, and more, are being integrated into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's gameplay.

The trailer also reveals some of the alternate skins that will be available for Steve in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This includes Alex, along with fan favorite mobs like Zombie and Enderman. Unfortunately, fans weren't able to get a deep dive into how Steve from Minecraft plays in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and they also weren't treated to a release date. However, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game director Masahiro Sakurai did confirm that the next presentation will take place on October 3 in a segment called Fighting With Steve and Alex at the Minecraft Live event.

As previously mentioned, Steve from Minecraft isn't the first Xbox-owned character to make it to the ambitious crossover fighting game. Previously, Banjo and Kazooie were added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as DLC, though their inclusion was far more surprising. While Steve and Minecraft are owned by Microsoft and Xbox, Minecraft games have continued to have a major presence on pretty much every gaming system imaginable, including Nintendo and PlayStation consoles.

It should be noted that Steve from Minecraft has been rumored to be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for quite some time. The rumors originated in a 5Channel leak that also accurately predicted Erdrick from Dragon Quest coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The other characters named in that leak, Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden and DOOM Guy from Doom, have yet to be announced.

It's possible that Erdrick and Steve both coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is just a coincidence. After all, they are both iconic gaming characters, and Super Smash Bros. is all about featuring as many popular gaming characters as possible. But there are still a few more Fighters Pass Vol. 2 characters yet to be announced, so there is still time for the rest of the leak to be proven accurate.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
