One of the most acclaimed games in the Nintendo Switch's library is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It celebrates many different corners of not only Nintendo's history, but also gaming in general. It has an incredibly huge roster, with some of the most iconic characters participating in a competitive environment. This extends to all of the DLC Fighters that were released after launch, with Sora from Kingdom Hearts being the last one added to the final mix of characters. This addition however marked the end of full-time development on the game.

While Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had its last massive character reveal, there have been a variety of smaller scale events to keep it going, revolving around spirits. This includes online tournaments and periodic Spirit Events focused on different games. These allowed for players to play in a variety of ways, whether it be taking on players in a unique-themed online tournament, or offering a new challenge where players fight an enemy with a certain set of parameters. However, it seems like these events are going to start winding down too.

The latest announcement posted on Twitter detailed an online Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament, starting this week on November 12th. Players will be tasked with fighting on stages that are primarily themed around vehicles. This includes stages like Pilotwings, Spirit Train, and Mute City SNES. This event will run for three days, with better performance in the tournament allowing for better Spirits to be awarded.

This however seems to be the last new spirit tournament event that will be done for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Starting the week after on the 19th, Nintendo will be repeating older spirit tournament events. While this does mean some players will continue playing in these themed tournaments, it's also a sign that the game's development is complete and not much new content will be added afterwards.

With the spirit tournament events ending, it's possible that the spirit board weekly events will be coming to an end quite soon too. It might be possible that some new spirits could be added based on upcoming games like Shin Megami Tensei 5 or Bayonetta 3, but fans expected the content to slow down as the game finally finished development.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
