To the delight of Kingdom Hearts fans everywhere, Sora is finally coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in just a few short days. However, the global landscape of gaming sometimes makes worldwide releases tricky to follow due to timezone differences and, with a character as highly anticipated as Sora, Smash fans across the world want to know when exactly they'll be able to start playing as the Keyblade wielder.

In the Sakurai Presents that revealed Sora's inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the release date for the character was set for October 18. Unfortunately, it didn't specifically say what time fans can expect to start downloading the DLC fighter, but looking at past release times helps illustrate when fans can expect him.

Smash fans should anticipate Sora going live at 9 PM EDT on October 18 if he follows the rest of the DLC fighters who have been released before him. While it's not confirmed 100% that he's going live exactly then, there's no reason to believe that he won't be following the same schedule. That said, here's a list of all other timezones for those who don't live on the East Coast of the USA:

As Sakurai revealed during the presentation, Sora was the character who won the Super Smash Bros. fighter ballot that Nintendo ran years prior, so it makes sense why so many people are counting down the hours until they can take control of the character in the largest video game crossover ever made. Sora is a bittersweet addition as he marks the final fighter that's going to be added to the game.

There's currently some worry that Sora might not be receiving an Amiibo as he wasn't featured on the list of upcoming statues during the presentation, but it seems likely that was excluded for other unknown reasons and that he'll simply be the final character from Smash to be made into one. As there aren't currently any mainline Kingdom Hearts games on the Switch, it's unclear what the function of his Amiibo might be, but that could be clarified once the Cloud versions of select games in the franchise eventually release on the platform at a later date.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
